What are game keys?
A game key is a code you redeem on a platform — Steam, Xbox, Ubisoft Connect, EA App, GOG — to add a game permanently to your library. The game itself is identical to a copy bought directly from the store; only the route to it differs, and that route is why the price does too.
Keys reach the stores we track through several channels: publisher distribution, regional pricing differences, and bundle allocations. That is what makes a key cheaper than the storefront, and it is also why two keys for the same game can differ by twenty euros.
What to check before you buy a game key
Three things account for almost every problem people have with keys, and all three are visible on the offer rows above.
Region. Some keys activate anywhere; others only on an account registered in a specific country. A key bought for the wrong region will not redeem, and stores rarely refund it. Every offer here shows its region.
Edition. Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate keys are different products with different prices. A Deluxe key does not unlock on a base-game listing, and a base key will not give you the content shown in Deluxe screenshots.
Where it activates. A key sold as "PC" might redeem on Steam, Ubisoft Connect, the EA App or GOG — Steam is the bulk of this shelf, but it is not all of it. If you want the game in a particular library, check the activation platform on the row before you buy.
How to actually pay less on game keys
Compare the offers, not just the headline price. One game usually carries several offers at once — different editions, different regions, different sellers — and they are not priced together. The cheapest row and the row you actually want are often not the same row.
Watch the price rather than the sale. Discounts run on a cycle, and a game that is 40% off today may be 70% off in two months. We record every price change we see, so each product page shows what it has actually cost over time rather than just what it costs now.
Buy the right edition, not the cheapest one. The most common expensive mistake is a base key bought when you wanted the edition with the season pass, then buying the season pass separately for more than the difference.
Why compare instead of buying direct
Buying from a storefront is simpler and always works. It is also usually the most expensive option, because a storefront has no reason to show you a cheaper listing elsewhere.
What comparison gets you is the spread — the difference between the highest and lowest price for the same game on the same day, across editions, regions and sellers. On popular games that spread is regularly wide enough to matter.
We're not a store. We don't hold stock, we don't take payment, and we earn a commission when you buy through a link here — which never changes the price you pay.
